Materials
Students to provide own materials per the list below: AS A SUGGESTION it is not required to have this complete list.
- Permanent markers
Pens - acrylic or oil
Ballpoint Pens
Charcoal / Graphite sticks
Pencils - Acrylic paints
Acrylic matte medium or Mod Podge Acrylic paint brushes
Rags
Palette - Journal/ Sketchbook – spiral 8 x 10 or larger
- Drawing pencils – 4-6 pencils minimum, ranging from 6H, HB to 6B.
- Ebony pencil – at least 2 pencils
- Artist pens – at least 1 black ultra-fine Sharpie, but a variety of sizes recommended.
- Black charcoal – a small amount is required. Derwent charcoal pencils work well, with little dust.
- White charcoal – a small amount is helpful.
- Conte – 1 box / your choice (not required)
- White eraser – or kneadable rubber
- Pencil sharpener or surgical knife/ blade
- Blending Stumps – at least 1 stump, compressed cardboard.
- Drawing paper – paper that can handle a variety of media. Heavyweight drawing paper in a pad is recommended. 11 x 14 approx. 2-4 sheets.
- Ruler - timber preferred.
- Spray fixative/ spray varnish.
You will be asked to explore several media over the 2-day course. Choose at least 2-3 different media from this list:
- India Ink – black or other colours of choice
- Watercolour pencils – at least 6 colours
- Coloured pencils – at least 6 colours, including white, black, neutrals
- Chalk pastels – at least 6 colours, including white, black, neutrals
- Oil pastels – at least 6 colours, including white, black, neutrals
- Markers – several colours and sizes
Multiple items you can supply from home. You do not need all these items, this is a suggested list:
- Existing drawings / sketches
- Unfinished paintings / photographs
- Found papers/cardboard/tissue paper
- Laser/inkjet prints
